Disability Pride Month at RehabPulse
RehabPulse is proud to provide better access to durable medical equipment, as well as easy-to-use resources for insurance claims and a dedicated team who cares about what we do.
The Americans with Disabilities Act was signed by President George H.W. Bush on July 26, 1990, a landmark law that prohibited discrimination against people with disabilities. In that same year, Boston held the first Disability Pride Day. The United States’ first Disability Pride Parade was held in Chicago in 2004. The 18th Annual Disability Pride Parade was held on Saturday July 24th, 2021 in Chicago, Illinois along with an accompanying Virtual Celebration of Disability Pride due to the pandemic.
The month is a chance to honor each person’s uniqueness as “a natural and beautiful part of human diversity,” according to America’s Disability Community.
Here at RehabPulse, we marked the month with special offers and learning more about our clients. We talk with people everyday who are in search of affordable mobility scooters, power wheelchairs, rollators, walkers and anything else you might think of to enhance their lives through better mobility through a non-disability centered world. We understand how our products work, what issues you might encounter and how a better fitting device might just make all the difference in someone’s life. Take Wendy, for example, she’s our Director of Customer Service and wears many hats around the office, but she drops everything in her day when a call comes in and she gets to speak with our clients.
“It’s so rewarding to talk with people who might be struggling to get in contact with a manufacturer, but have specific questions about a device we carry – I ask them all kinds of questions to ensure they don’t even have to leave their homes to get the right products that will serve them best,” says Wendy. “I can tell you if you’re driving and need to get your chair into the seat next to you – ultra-lightweight frames are the way to go, or if manufacturers are having shipping delays, which we are seeing a lot of right now – all of this comes from listening to people’s needs daily and truly having a gauge on the pulse of our community!”
When it comes down to solutions, RehabPulse is changing the game by also providing a portal for processing insurance claims. Medicare was the most recent add to this portfolio with more providers coming online daily. A true one-stop-shop is paving the way for people and their loved ones to be able to get the mobility they need without all the minutiae in between. That’s why we’re proud this month, and hope you join us on this revolutionary journey too! MORE RESOURCES
